Passion and Heart

In our clinic, we believe that there is one crucial ingredient that should be part of patient care. I call this our “secret sauce.” What this entails is simple: truly caring about your patients. When you love the patient, obstacles to healing disappear and symptoms tend to get better. Your patient knows when you truly care and when you do not.

I have been told through the years that a doctor should not become attached to their patient. I have come to accept that whether prudent or not, I am attached to my patients. I am incredibly invested in each patient. I feel that it is a tremendous privilege for a patient to trust me enough to let me work on their body.

I learn about my patients’ families and their struggles and their hopes and dreams. I cry with them and I celebrate with them, and when I cannot help them, it makes me lie awake at night, questioning what I could have done better, how I can keep from failing next time.

We Are One Big Family

I throw my passion into every single case that I treat. Every patient represents a goal to me. When listening to my patients, I don’t just want to hear about their pain; I want to know what their pain took away from them. What is it that they miss? Is it to walk their beloved dog? To travel with their husband? To work in the job they love? To enjoy their grandchildren? These are the things I want them to get back.

This is the reason I have a fire burning in my heart, and passion filling my days. It is not just about beating the monster… it’s about being charged and blessed with the responsibility to help guide people just like you back to life, instead of merely surviving and living “around” your pain. You deserve to live with passion again. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to be alive again with joy.
