The short answer? No, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) doesn’t literally “turn into” fibromyalgia. But here’s where it gets interesting (and important): what we often see is that when the nervous system becomes dysregulated, the body can start stacking up multiple neurological conditions over time. So, while one doesn’t morph into the other, they can absolutely coexist—and often do.
At the Spero Clinic, we rarely see a patient who has just one diagnosis. It’s more common for someone to show up with a combination like EDS, POTS, fibromyalgia, and/or MS. Why? Because all of these conditions stem from the same deeper issue—a dysregulated nervous system.
The big question here is why the body begins to develop multiple, often overlapping, conditions. The traditional model doesn’t really answer this.
But when we zoom out and look at the body as an interconnected system—rather than a set of isolated parts—it starts to make more sense.
