Yes, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) can impact the connective tissues in the mouth, including the teeth, gums, and jaw. However, EDS will present differently for each patient.

EDS is a rare, inherited heterogeneous group of connective tissue disorders known to cause hyperextensibility (stretchiness) of the skin, hypermobility of joints, tissue fragility demonstrated by easy bruising, and delayed wound healing with atrophic scarring.

The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are currently classified in a recognized system of thirteen subtypes and each type of EDS has different symptoms that affect patients’ quality of life. Again, every patient is different and each case will be unique in its own way.
